Coolthink@JC Junior Network School Recruitment
Building Computational Thinking Foundations Through Play for Lower Primary Students
The CoolThink@JC Junior programme is now recruiting Network Schools. We warmly invite all publicly funded primary schools in Hong Kong to join us in nurturing students’ logical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills through engaging games, storytelling, and hands-on learning experiences.
Application Deadline: 13 November 2026
The programme briefing session was successfully held on 30 October 2026, attracting more than 260 primary school principals and teachers who participated online. We are grateful for the enthusiastic support from the education community and for the opportunity to explore innovative approaches to computational thinking education for lower primary students together.
We invite you to review the briefing presentation to learn more about the curriculum design, resources and support available to participating schools, programme requirements, and application arrangements.

About the Programme
The CoolThink@JC Junior programme is initiated and funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, and jointly developed by Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education and City University of Hong Kong. Building on the successful experience of CoolThink@JC, the programme systematically extends computational thinking education to students from Primary 1 to Primary 3.
At the heart of the curriculum is an unplugged, game-based learning approach. Through hands-on manipulation of physical materials, storytelling, collaboration, and experiential activities, students develop essential computational thinking skills, including sequencing, pattern recognition, problem decomposition, logical reasoning, and the testing and refinement of solutions.
As all learning activities are designed to be conducted without digital devices, the curriculum can be flexibly integrated into different subjects and existing classroom lessons. It provides a strong foundation for students’ future learning in computational thinking and coding at the upper primary level.
